For several years Hani Coffee has served with friends from Texas to host an English camp at a high school a few hours outside of Kunming. The camp is a great opportunity to connect with students and teachers as well. Each class has between 50 to 60 students and lasts 45 minutes. During the week there is much joy, laughter and fun as we work together to encourage and build a learning foundation amongst the students. (more…)

Friday, July 30th, 2010Hani Coffee Travels Back to the Golden Triangle
Monday, June 28th, 2010
In a previous blog you read about the precious people who live in the “Golden Triangle”. You learned that the people who live in these beautiful tropical mountains, are impacted by human trafficking, drug trade, sex trade, child labor, abuse and slavery. It is a place where poverty, sexually transmitted disease and pain are commonplace. And to add to that, the area is suffering along with the rest of the province from a severe drought. (more…)
Journey to the Golden Triangle
Monday, January 25th, 2010
In March, a team of folks from all over the world will travel to a place known as the Golden Triangle. It is a place where 3 countries share borders, and the people of the area travel freely between countries. It is a fertile land where everything from coffee to mangoes are grown. It is also a place of extreme poverty. The farmers claw at the dirt to make enough money to keep the family fed. Many are uneducated and with such high poverty, many children begin farming alongside their parents when other children are headed to kindergarten. When all those factors come together, there are severe human tragedies.
Hidden by the beautiful tropical mountains and lush forests there, human trafficking, drug trade, sex trade, child labor, abuse and slavery are commonplace. In this place of poverty, AIDS, and pain, half of the team will be providing basic health, hygiene training, health care screening, and malnutrition supplements in villages and village schools. They will also be providing AIDS awareness training in a local vocational school to hundreds of high school aged children. While they are meeting those needs, the other half of the team will be partnering with a local village to provide them with clean drinking water. They will tap a natural spring almost 5 kilometers from the village and install pipe and water tanks. This is the first stage of partnering in this area as a new micro-enterprise is started up to grow and process high quality coffee. This is a great time for you to join the journey. Stay connected as we keep you updated…

We at Hani Coffee want to thank you all!
It has been a great year as we have begun this journey together. We have been able to do so much in the way of meeting needs among the Hani people and their communities. More children now have an opportunity at education; more villages now have access to clean water; and more remote communities continue to receive health and nutrition education! It truly has been an amazing year.We have begun moving Hani Coffee Co. into the next steps to becoming a business with a vision for making a difference. There are many things to share with you in the coming months, but for now, we want to focus on the holiday and all it brings.
Sharing the Vision @ the 2009 Nordica Christmas Fair
Sunday, December 13th, 2009This past weekend Hani Coffee Co manned a booth at this year’s Annual Christmas Fair hosted by Nordica. Let me just say that it was a huge success! Throughout the two-day event, we were able to not only serve great coffee but also share the heart, vision, and passion behind Hani Coffee Co.
Getting Started
Thursday, May 7th, 2009WOW! we have been working really hard on connecting with you all.
This first few months has been full of getting our product available to you and putting together a means of getting to know us, the Hani, and the vision of Hani Coffee Co.
I had no idea all of the work involved in putting together a website. I am so very thankful for the guys at Three Stream! What an amazing team they are, and I cannot imagine having made it through this process without them.
It has really stretched us and made us consider who we are and why we are doing this. It is no small task taking what is in your heart and mind and trying to articulate it into text.
Many of the images on our site come from an amazing young woman at Amy Coffey Photography. She is truly an artist that has the ability to fill you with emotion and a desire to connect with the people and places in her images.
So many have been a part of getting this project off the ground I cannot put them all in one post. I do, however, want to say thanks to all of you… our customers and friends. Without your concern and support, this would be just another coffee company.
Let’s begin this journey together and see where it takes us.
