In a previous blog you read about the precious people who live in the “Golden Triangle”. You learned that the people who live in these beautiful tropical mountains, are impacted by human trafficking, drug trade, sex trade, child labor, abuse and slavery. It is a place where poverty, sexually transmitted disease and pain are commonplace. And to add to that, the area is suffering along with the rest of the province from a severe drought.
Some reports have shared this is a “once-in-a-century drought”. In this province, about 7 million acres have been affected with more than half of that destroyed by fire and up to 16 million people have not had access to adequate clean drinking water.
After hearing of these needs, volunteers from Texas joined with our local Hani Coffee team to go and serve the people of this area. We worked alongside families from a village tapping a freshwater spring, installing water supply pipe, tanks and teaching AIDS awareness and basic health care in local schools.
The team split into two groups, the first traveled into local schools and villages and trained several hundred students and adults in AIDS awareness and basic health care. The second group hiked up the mountain with the local farmers and tapped a freshwater spring and piped the water about 5 kilometers down to the villages.
And now because people like you were willing to partner with people from several cultures: hundreds of lives have been changed.
Look for more great opportunities to partner with Hani Coffee. We invite you to join the journey…
